| Couch Roll Cleaning | SHOWERING TIPS PRESS FELT CLEANING TIPS. 1.Each & every press felt high-pressure oscillation system should be microtravel type having speed synchronization facilities with paper m/c drive. 2. Oscillation stroke length should be twice the nozzle spacing so that two nozzles would spray the same part of the felt simultaneously. Thus if one nozzle becomes clogged a certain amount of cleaning will still be obtained. In general 150 & 300 mm stroke length is recommended. 3. It is obvious that the no of nozzles will be directly related to the showering time. A nozzle spacing of 75 -150 mm is typical & provides fast felt cleaning. Closer nozzle spacing has no disadvantages except that more pumping capacity is required. 4. The latest trend is to have high-pressure showers on the paper side. Current felt design with high proportions of monofilament base fabric absorb the kinetic energy of a jet to such an extent that it is practically impossible to clean the paper side with the shower positioned on the inside. However there are still exceptional cases where high pressure showers may be positioned inside the felt run , for example on the tissue or fine paper pick ups. Thinner felts containing proportionally less base fabric may be successfully cleaned from the inside by setting the water pressure at (450-700 psi)depending on the quality of felt and the speed of machine. But in other cases most paper fibers,loading agent& dirt particles have a tendency to adhere more firmly to the batt layer of felt. Sometimes the felt surface may be plugged with adhesive substance . in both cases the effect of the high pressure shower in terms of proper felt conditioning can be improved if it is directed towards the paper side. 5. It is recommended to set the water pressure range for high-pressure shower from 147 to 300 PSI . If this is done & nozzle orifice diameter is 1.00 mm any pressure can be used without risk of damage of felt. 6. Nozzle with a diameter of 1.00 mm should not be placed at a distance greater than 70-80 mm from the surface of the felt . DRYER FABRIC CLEANING SHOWER. Dryer felts pick ups fine fibers which plugs the fabric void volume reducingthe original permeability of cfm rating.Dryer felts also pick up scabs that will blind over spots on the surface. The fuzz is easy to remove with air ,but the scabs requires high pressure 150-165 degrees F water. Single jet shower uses high pressure water nozzles combined with air jets to remove the water.It should always use during sheet breaks or shout down period.The air nozzle blow 45 cfm of air through the dryer felts to remove contamination which fills the openings of the dryer felts. Naturally the no of nozzles will be directly related to the showering time. A nozzle spacing of 75 -150 mm is typical & provides fast felt cleaning. HP shower should directed at right angles to the paper side of the single layer fabric to chisel off sticks & resinous substance from the paper side and to flush through fines and fillers from its structure. For double & triple layer fabrics, small openings occur at an angle of about 22° in the machine direction. Thus inclining the shower at an angle slightly against the run and observe the highest water passing on the inside the fabric, which gives you the chiseling & wash through action. 5. It is recommended to set the water pressure range for high-pressure shower from 250 to 400 PSI. If this is done & nozzle orifice diameter is 1.00 mm any pressure can be used without risk of damage of felt. H.P COUCH ROLL CLEANING SHOWER. H.P.Oscillating shower is essential to clean all the drilled holes in the shell of the suction couch roll. The shower must be positioned perpendicular to the roll. To clean the holes it should oscillate at a uniform speed . Nozzle spacing should be half of the stroke length of the oscillator. Water pressure 400-520 PSI with 1.00 mm orifice diameter noozle. Cleaning distance 100-150 mm from the nozzle orifice. |
